My wife and I had the pre-theatre dinner in Wild Honey and it was amazing food for the price. We paid £59 each for 3 courses, which included pre-starters, canele, champagne and coffee. The food was faultless, duck terrine, torched mackerel, chicken, sea bass and panacotta. It was all really delicious, top drawer food and the portions were really generous. The staff were great, kind, friendly and helpful and we met chef patron Anthony Demetre, who was great and we had a lovely chat with him. Thank you Wild Honey for a truly memorable evening.

THANK YOU so much for looking after me, and for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Simply the nicest meal I’ve had in London-or anywhere-for some time. The rabbit was exquisite. And the famous dessert is one of my favourites (I remember it from ‘Wild Honey’s’ previous location). Pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. It’s a wonderful room. I had a view west, towards the Athenaeum and clubland. Staff are all impeccable. And the maestro chef himself is there, overseeing everything. Alexander Demestre is extremely personable, welcoming and a huge talent. I really like the fusion of English and French ideas; sustainable and local sourcing of food/produce. Best wishes, Will

Went with high expectations. Sadly left rather unimpressed. The amuse bouche were pastry shells filled with insipid ratatouille and choux buns filled with liver pate. The Choux was a limp affair. These had obviously been prepped quite some time before. A lot of the food felt and tasted as though it had been prepped and left waiting but not in a fridge. These starter of melon and ham and oyster had chopped oyster (room temperature, never a great thing for an oyster) with a room temperature oyster mouse. With this came a room temperature very bland gazpacho. Yes, it was a warm evening, but these things should be served on ice, particularly at a Michelin star restaurant. These lamb was very good, but came with a bland green sauce (we never determined the taste) and aubergine which was slimy and topped with (slimy) mango. This was served with a small skewer of ‘merguez’ sausage, which sadly tasted of dry local kebab meat. This was bizarrely served with ricotta cheese. More blandness. Pudding was the famous custard tart. Any pastry chef should be ashamed to serve this. Note to the pastry chef: try the river cafe for how very short, crisp shortcrust should be made. The custard tart pastry was verging on soft and stale. The filling good, but nothing amazing. We were pretty disappointed and can’t recommend this restaurant on any front, There are plenty more Michelin star restaurants in the capital which deserve their star.
