I visited for dinner on a Friday. The vibe and decor was fairly upmarket, leaning more towards fine dining, although there didn’t appear to be any dress code. There is a 4 course set menu format for dinner, priced at £140. It was nice to see almost no supplemental charges across the menu. Having read through the reviews beforehand the first two courses of beef tartare and semi smoked salmon became obvious choices. Upon my servers suggestion I followed this with the lamb and the salted caramel tart for my final two courses. There were more freebies than expected thrown in as well, with 4 items individually served before my first course - a tray of cheesy mini crackers, a gougere, the initial serving of bread, and a tomato gazpacho. There was also a madeline served after dessert. The food was excellent, in particular the first 2 courses. The beef tartare was beautifully presented, being topped with a layer of onions and caviar. The semi smoked salmon was my favourite dish of the evening, with a deliciously textured fish combined with a very indulgent beurre blanc. The lamb was enjoyable enough but a very standard type of dish from other fine dining experiences. The tart for dessert again felt quite familiar but still very nice. With regards to drinks, I asked the sommelier to put together a pairing and this was well done. Service was excellent as well, it was polished and well coordinated without feeling overly stuffy or formal. My planned dining companion had pulled out at the last minute and the hostess didn’t even blink at the late cancellation. The bill for my solo dinner came to £267 of which £104 was spent on drinks. On the whole a highly enjoyable dinner. I would rate the experience as closer to 2-star in terms of the quality of food and service, as well as the ambience. Pricing seems reasonable for a 4 course set menu considering all the extras included, alongside portion sizes that were relatively decent. An easy 5 star rating all round.

Outstanding experience, every dish cooked to perfection with amazing flavours… front of house staff knowledgeable, friendly and approachable , every course nicely spaced, no pressure to rush , perfect without being poncy… other chefs and restaurateurs could learn a lot from our experience

Fabulous food, passionately produced except that even as a salt lover, for me the food was just too salty! (Evident probably only when tasting a whole portion rather than a spoonful). Service is a bit too attentive for my taste. Felt like there was a surfeit of attention before we’d even started the meal! And most adults would prefer not to be accompanied to the toilet! Maybe less front of house staff needed? Also, maybe the sommelier should not assume diners have no knowledge of wine. Better to ask questions than jump to conclusions about your diners who are quite likely to have some knowledge or even training (in my daughter’s case) but want a question answered. Have been twice this year and would go every week if I could afford it but less salt please!
