Our favourite Omakase in London. We have experienced many high-end Omakase on our travels and continue to return to Takahashi each year on special occasions for the exceptional food and the warm, understated hospitality from this family-run restaurant. Chef Taka's menus are thoughtful, delightfully inventive, utilise high-quality ingredients, are skilfully executed, and for us, strike a perfect balance between tradition and ingenuity through the incorporation of subtle yet surprising local/Mediterranean elements. Service is kind and attentive, yet unobtrusive. We feel the pricing remains very reasonable compared with more central options, together with the fact that the menu is designed to be sufficiently filling without a reliance on supplementary add-ons (although interesting specials are available, if you wish). As someone with a sweet tooth, I also appreciate that the desserts are absolutely delicious and planned/executed with as much care as the rest of the menu (matcha creme brulée, black sesame ice cream and a curated selection of seasonal fruit, this time), as in my experience this is often a bit of an afterthought with Omakase. Straightforward to reach from other parts of London by tube/train. Recommended!

An incredible omakase experience, rivalling any restaurant we dined at whilst travelling around Japan. The level of skill, quality of the ingredients, attention to detail and level of attentiveness of the service were unlike anything else we have experienced in London. We loved the sake pairings and the complementary sake we were given for my boyfriend’s birthday. An unforgettable night at Takahashi, we are already looking forward to our next visit.

If you only get to go to one restaurant in London, go to Takahashi. Phenomenal.
