Sourdough Sophia has been my favourite bakery since I moved to Crouch End. The bread and the pastries have always been delicious and the staff are always lovely. Recently though, the quality has just not been what I had come to expect. I was aware of the problems with the sourdough starter and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt while they figured it out. However, I went in this morning and ordered a Babka Cruffin and was really disappointed. The pastry was dry and bready, and for over £5, it was not worth the money. The miso cookies also looked worse than usual today. It seems the expansion to other sites is having a negative impact on existing sites, which is really disappointing. I really hope they can figure their quality control out soon, otherwise it will be difficult to justify returning.
