I'm still loving Silk Road after the renovation. The same familiar menu, same familiar tastes, same familiar staff, but far more room to enjoy a mellow dining experience and particularly handy if you want to bring along a large crew of people. I generally go for TEP noodles which is a journey in a bowl wading through long hand pulled noodles, tomato, egg and chilli. Shredded kelp is mellow and life affirming. Home style cabbage last night admittedly had a little less chilli heat than I remember, but I swear that stuff will keep the flu at bay if you consume a bowl of it. The only criticism I've ever had of this place is why they don't do a veggie dumpling. Surely it would be a money spinner.

Full disclosure. I'm a Korean American foodie in London for the first time with my Scottish girlfriend and her family. Nonetheless, I've had my fair share of "Chinese" food (both in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and the U.S.). But I am by no means an expert. What I do know is the location was in a bustling, fun and vibrant part of London. The indoor decor was "Asiany" but not obnoxiously so. But the food was solid--very very tasty--and the prices reasonable. Service, especially from the male waiter, was very attentive and friendly. They even let us stay about 30 minutes longer just chatting away but not ordering anything. Finally, and most importantly, for those who are seriously gluten-free, this is one of the few really good Chinese restaurants out there that specifically cater to this misunderstood community. Would I go back? Absolutely!
