Old School local. Open mic night on a Sunday. Run by Danny, it’s a cool vibe.

🚇 Elephant & Castle 🍺 £4.95 Moretti ❤️ A welcoming backstreet locals pub. . Nestled in the backstreets of Walworth you will find The Queen Elizabeth pub. It’s a about a fifteen minute walk from Elephant & Castle Tube, there are a few other pubs along the way incase you need to have a livener and a pit stop prior to getting here. . This is a two bar corner pub which has the traditional saloon and public bar set up, this was the case with a lot of pubs built during the two world wars and after World War II. Prior to entering I didn’t know the make up of the pub and walked in to the saloon bar. I was served by Jackie who was was very welcoming and personable, we got chatting about pubs and she gave me some recommendations to visit in and around Walworth. I ordered a pint of Moretti which was under five quid, this is the cheapest I’ve paid for it in any London boozer. The atmosphere here was great and had a very friendly vibe, there was a ska and reggae soundtrack playing in the background and there were two fellas at the bar reciting the tunes word for word. I spoke with a couple of the locals who were very nice lads. One fella was talking me through his acca as we were watching Soccer Saturday on the TV. I had a great conversation with this top fella from Leeds who lived close by, we spoke about the six nations and Englands chances of winning it, he was a very knowledgeable chap and interesting to talk to. . This is a traditionally decorated pub and luckily the powers that be have not decided to paint everything grey and shove a few chesterfields in. There is a huge bass mirror in the saloon bar, some floral wall paper and the original bar from when the pub was built. . This was my fourth pub on my crawl around Walworth and I have to say my favourite. This pub has great service, good company and relaxing surroundings, all you want from a visit to a boozer. I love this pub, if I could give it a royal seal of approval I would. God Save The Queen. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 05/03/22 If you want to see all my pub reviews in one place, head to @londonpubmap on Instagram. 🍻
