Besides the Radisson Blu Hamburg train station, tucked away within its unassuming walls lies a delightful paradox: Nancy's gallery of beautiful, large-scale paintings. But the surprises don't stop there. On Friday nights, this artistic haven undergoes a magical transformation into an intimate, underground jazz club – an experience as unexpected as it is enchanting. This is precisely where I found myself one Friday evening. Nancy's partner, the charismatic Jerry, curates a remarkable 3-hour jazz session starting at 9 PM. He doesn't just organize; Jerry is a core part of the show, playing with passion and singing beautifully. He gathers talented musicians who deliver a truly special performance until midnight. The atmosphere is unique and captivating. Settled amongst Nancy's striking artwork, you're immersed in great live jazz. Meanwhile, the station's original purpose continues just outside the large windows – a constant, mesmerizing backdrop of commuters rushing home or dashing for late trains. This blend of vibrant music, compelling art, and the pulse of the city creates a uniquely authentic Hamburg vibe. Be warned: intimacy is key. The space is cosy, holding perhaps 25-30 people, fostering a friendly and communal feel. Nancy keeps things simple and fair, offering beer and wine at reasonable prices. While Jerry doesn't charge an entry fee, supporting the talented musicians with a contribution of €10-20 is not only kind but genuinely deserved for the quality of the show.
