This area at the end of The Hayes is full of really nice niche shopping including very high-end brands, cafes with tables on the pavement and lots of different pubs and types of food on offer. There's a Vivienne Westwood shop and ROLEX watch shop. Swish or what? The Hayes is pedestrianised and there is plenty of upmarket shopping and dining to be found as well as it being right at one end of the infamous Caroline Street. Masses of takeaway food places and two big chip shops serving Curry Sauce and chips or if you're feeling flush, Chicken Curry "off the bone" on a tray of chips. Absolutely gorgeous at 2 o'clock in the morning, but extortionately expensive at around £6.50 for what is just a tray of chips with shredded Chicken in curry sauce on top. That said, you're never too old or too refined for Caroline Street. I promise that you will see women walking barefoot on slimy, squashed chips, grease, dropped Curry sauce and quite possibly broken glass at the end of a night. It's Keeardiff! (August 2025 - No changes I can see or smell but I have to say that £3.60 for chips and curry sauce is now very overpriced). Caroline Streetoomed cleaner and smarter than I think I have ever seen it. Almost respectable.
