Der Name „Castlehill Dach-Restaurant“ weckt Erwartungen, die leider nicht erfüllt werden. Statt einer schönen Aussicht sieht man durch die Fenster tatsächlich – ganz dem Namen entsprechend – nur Dächer und Schornsteine. Wer hier auf ein Panorama hofft, wird enttäuscht. Besonders ärgerlich: Obwohl Toiletten ausgeschildert sind, darf man sie als Gast nicht benutzen – laut Personal seien sie ausschließlich für Mitarbeitende. Das ist schlicht unverschämt. Die Speisenauswahl ist sehr begrenzt, die Portionen sind klein und dafür überteuert. Was den Besuch jedoch positiv herausstechen lässt, ist der wirklich außergewöhnlich freundliche Service – das Personal war durchweg zuvorkommend und herzlich. Leider reicht das allein nicht, um den Gesamteindruck wettzumachen.

Very good food, and for a reasonable price. I had the Cornish pasty and it was amazing, although it only has a small options for food, they all looked and tasted very good. Unfortunately there was only one worker so some had to wait a while to get food as the server was trying to juggle orders and cooking at the same time. Pretty nice place good for a lunch near Edinburgh castle.

Das Sandwich bzw. Panini war sehr lecker. Simpel aber genau das richtige für einen kurzen Snack. Freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Da bis auf uns keine anderen Gäste vor Ort waren ging es sich sehr schnell. Wenn man keine Sterneküche erwartet kann man es sehr empfehlen.
