The wife and I often take her mum and dad out for dinner and being from Prestonpans we usually stick to local eateries. But this time we thought we would surprise them and take them somewhere different. I’ve always noticed the Steading in the passing or visiting the Ski slope at hillhend, so I looked it up on google and checked out the menu and the reviews, The reviews mentioned that it was the best fish & chips in Edinburgh and the Lothian’s, it also mentioned it was big portions, So as the 4 of us always order the fish & chips wherever we go, we thought let’s try this place out. We booked our table online for the next day. Upon our arrival we were not disappointed. The place was spotlessly clean and even although it was busy we were amazed our food was out within 5 minutes, it was first class service. The reviews were spot on, the fish was truly exceptional and the big portions lived up to the reputation because anywhere else you go you normally get fish and a half a dozen chips… NOT HERE…. The plate is full to it’s capacity, I opted for peas while the other 3 got salad dressing instead of peas, My god the salad dressing really complimented the dish in its own right. Well done the Steading, You are obviously a great team all singing of the same hymn sheet. Fantastic service, very welcoming staff and a warm cosy venue.Lovely place. We will definitely be making the Steading our number one choice when we come out for dinner. Everything about this experience makes it worth while for us to now forget the local eateries and make the drive up to the Steading. Thanks for making our visit so nice. Mum & Dad loved it as did we. Kind Regards Kevin Thomson
