Chilli Padi Durham ❤️ truly an exquisite experience. Chilli Padi is iconic of Newcastle - when I meet Malaysians who visit Newcastle, too often a visit here is a must. For them to have opened another branch in Durham - we just had to visit! It turns out that William, the manager, hails from Penang Island, just like myself! We connected immediately, and the recommendations he gave were splendid. What I like is the fact that while this may appear to be a different ‘branch’, the menu here has its differences as compared to the Newcastle Chilli Padi - making it all the more reason for one to visit. For starters - take a look at the ‘Ais Kacang’. This is TYPICAL of Malaysia, especially the Penang version of a dessert (the 4th picture). They hit it spot on ❤️ We thoroughly enjoyed the Nasi Lemak, a teh tarik ais, and a ‘Lagoon of Langkawi’ mocktail. The other dishes were splendid - Chinese yam and special chilli Padi fried crispy chicken. If you like the Newcastle’s Iconic Chilli Padi experience, you wouldn’t want to miss this 😄 it is such a lovely spot - beautifully decorated with such a warm environment.

Absolutely beautiful food and attentive staff. We were a party of 5 meeting up for some food at 3pm. I have a couple of food allergies. It was very quiet whilst at the venue - in between meal times - but this didn’t spoil or experience. The staff were advised of my food allergies as we ordered (wheat, dairy & egg), and also I am vegan. I felt like it was very important they got this right for me and with allergen info being brought out, we went through options. Something off the menu was created, and it was an absolutely AMAZING fried rice dish using a Chinese olive vegetable paste we’d had a conversation about. Loved it! The others had starters (pictured) and main courses - there was a lot of food which was thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktails are amazing too! A tour around the wall paintings was very interesting - they all contain the staff’s faces somewhere. Maybe one of the perks of dining whilst it wasn’t busy! The venue is outside of Durham city centre at Aykley Heads. This shouldn’t put you off visiting though. Truly authentic food and people. *** Pictures are of the sharing starters the others had and the fried rice that was made specially for me. ***

Fantastic place! Delicious food, lovely service, and a few free tasters as they design their dessert menu. Couldn’t recommend it enough
