We have bern once before a few weeks ago and had food which was nice. Came back with family from Manchester. This time the experience was bad. The sweetcorn was drowning in salt. Mushroom pate had a weird taste and the soup was yuk. Mains came not much better. Food was just warm. We had to go to the bar to ask for additional cutlery and sauce. On a positive the beer was nice. We definitely won't be back.

Wow, what can I say!! Stayed here as I’d been to the pub quite a few times and liked the decor and ambience of the pub. All I can say is that the bedrooms above are the polar opposite of that and are as basic and dirty as I’ve ever encountered. Grout in the tiles in the bathroom were stained brown, the shower leaked all over the floor, no headboard on the bed, musty smell throughout the room, threadbare carpet ….. Thankfully I was only stying one night and needed somewhere a short walk to the city centre so it served its purpose in that regard. Wish I hadn’t been so tight and just paid for a proper hotel
