We had the opportunity to visit several speciality coffee shops in Ireland during our trip. We were pleasantly surprised to find so many coffee shops in the Dublin area using single origin, high scoring, coffee beans. Many of them also did pour overs too. Every cup from these shops was excellent. However one stood out as unique and maybe the best coffee shop we have visited during our many travels in the past ten years. Brew Lab Speciality Coffee was an experience we really enjoyed and we made several trips back to savor it. It was about a 25 to 30 minute bus ride using Dublin’s public transportation to reach it from our Airbnb. What made it so exceptional? A 6 station pour over bar with 4 groups of speciality coffee offerings from 8 to 15 euros. The barista explained the coffee choice and provided the opportunity to smell the coffee beans through each step of the brewing process. Excellent experience. The choices of pastries and breakfast sandwiches were broad with many vegan options. They use several different high quality bakeries to provide the best pastries we experienced in Ireland. But the most enjoyable aspect of this shop is the baristas. With the knowledge they have about their coffee, pastries, and tea offerings made it certain we got the best items for that day. The baristas are multinational which made the experience even better. We purchased whole beans from the shop several times based on a barista’s recommendation for use in our Airbnb. Every recommendation was outstanding. If you are ever in Dublin and enjoy excellent coffee and pastries, make sure you visit Brew Lab Speciality Coffee.
