L' edificio è uno dei più emblematici della città, si trova vicino alla foce del fiume Urumea. Progettato dall'architetto Francisco Urcola, venne inaugurato nel 1912, insieme all'Hotel María Cristina, e fu intitolato alla moglie di re Alfonso XIII, Victoria Eugenia di Battenberg. È in stile neorinascimentale e neoplateresco spagnolo, l'esterno è ispirato al Palazzo Monterrey di Salamanca . È un importante punto di riferimento per il Festival Internazionale del Cinema di San Sebastián e ha ospitato numerosi artisti di fama mondiale.

Semana grande Donostia,tarde teatro en el Victoria Eugenia. La obra pijama para seis ,con Gabino Diego y Jesús Cisneros entr otros ,nos encantó. Pasamos un rato agradable y la noche era espectacular.
