Ruprechtskirche is the oldest church in Vienna, dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg, the patron saint of salt merchants. The church's roots stretch deep into the past, as it was constructed around the 9th-11th centuries, embodying Romanesque architectural style. In 1276, the building was severely damaged by a fire and underwent multiple renovations over the years. Centuries later, in 1662, the church was reconstructed again, this time in the Baroque style. It houses Vienna's oldest bells, dating back to the medieval era, as well as a striking ancient stained glass window depicting the Virgin Mary with the Child. It's no wonder that this monument of ancient architecture attracts tourists from all over the world.

This place holds the title of being the oldest built church in the city of Vienna. It's origin dates back 13 centuries as it's first stone was put in place around the 8th century of our era. What's making it more special is that it's history is dedicated to the St. Rupert of Salzburg, the saint of salt merchans and it's location near the city's landmark which is the Danube river. A true example of dedication and simplicity.
