I work just one block away and had somehow never noticed Café de Casa—I always walked on the Buena Vista Café side and, since this spot had been empty for so long, it just blended into the background.
What a pleasant surprise! The space is charming and welcoming. Sandwiches are on the small side—my own was tasty but petite—while my colleague’s milanese sandwich came with fries and was a more generous portion.
When we arrived, we were looking up at the menu on the wall when an associate came over and invited us to scan the QR code to see menu pictures—such a thoughtful touch that made ordering easier.
Special shout-out to JV: he is an outstanding associate with a natural talent for customer service. He goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and cared for. We work at a nearby hotel, and that’s exactly the kind of personality we look for in our own guest-service team.
