The 1991 Barricades Museum vividly and at times quite starkly narrates the most challenging period in Latvia's history, marking a truly pivotal moment. Despite its relative "youth," the museum enjoys special popularity not only among city visitors but also among local residents.

In the building where the barricades museum is located today, ordinary people who took to the streets to defend their convictions used to gather. Here, they rested and ate, and later, based on their own memories and documented testimonies, decided to open a memorial museum for all who are interested. The primary mission of the museum was to preserve and further explore the chronicle of events that took place in 1991 during the August Coup, which claimed the lives of many barricade defenders. Today, some of the rooms of this historic building are rented out for courses and conferences.

Pequeño museo muy interesante donde se puede conocer la historia de la independencia de Letonia. La exposición está en letón, aunque en la entrada te dan un folleto que explica las distintas zonas (ojo porque en español no hay). Parte de la historia que exponen está también en el Museo de la Ocupación Letona. La entrada es gratuita com donación.
