Jedna z czterech fontann na Starym Rynku, chociaż jedyna, która w oryginale przetrwała do dzisiaj. Jej budowa została zakończona w 1766, a za projekt odpowiadał Augustyn Schöps, który na materiał budulcowy wybrał piaskowiec, a całość utrzymał w stylu barokowym. Według mnie fontanna Prozerpiny bez dwóch zdań jest najpiękniejszą ze wszystkich na Starym Rynku, położona jest też w najładniejszej jego części, obok ratusza i pręgierza oraz nieopodal domków budnicznych
