The tunnels and caverns occupy a vast area beneath the city. During the times of the monarchy, the area was predominantly occupied by bands of thieves. The Second World War drove partisans underground. The impressions that the catacombs leave on people always vary. For some, a tour here is seen as sheer entertainment, for others, it's a subject for study. There are also those for whom walking through the grim corridors of the catacombs brings a sense of terror.

Катакомбы Парижа имеют свои многочисленные истории и легенды, которые так привлекают сюда туристов. На экскурсию отправился вместе с женой. Нами двигало любопытство. Интересно было посмотреть на расположение катакомб и размеры. Вниз ведет узкая лестница, а дальше залы, в которых аккуратно разложены рядами кости и черепа. Мы взяли аудиогид, чему были несказанно рады, ведь смогли узнать немало интересных фактов об этом месте. Катакомбы показались нам очень большими, и довольно долгий осмотр подействовал на нас угнетающе. Чтобы выбраться оттуда, нужно преодолеть 83 ступени.
