This statue of King George IV (1762-1830) is located at Trafalgar Square. It is the work of Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey and was originally intended to be fitted to the top of Marble Arch in the northeast corner of Hyde Park. Instead the statue found its way here in 1843. What you see is a fairly traditional 19th-century equestrian statue of King George IV on horseback. He is cloaked and peering to his right as if looking at Nelson's Column monument. Worth a look-see while sightseeing around Trafalgar Square.
