The value of this place has been increasing over the years, and that is no coincidence. Having endured difficult times, the Old Synagogue rose from the ashes like a Phoenix. A monument of architecture and a legacy of an oppressed people in Poland, it lived for a long time thanks to donors and its townspeople who cared about the fate of this place. The Second World War completely destroyed the building, and all its furnishings were looted by the Nazis, while 30 Poles were killed by bullets against its wall. A thorough restoration did not occur until 1959, and today it houses a historical museum, or rather a branch of it, dedicated to the culture and the arduous burden of the Jewish people.
