Tam adı: Cathédrale du Saint-Esprit (Aziz Ruh Katedrali). Bağlı olduğu mezhep: Katolik (özellikle Latin Katolik cemaati). Yapım yılı: 1846 yılında inşa edilmiştir. Mimarı: İtalyan asıllı Giuseppe Fossati – Aynı zamanda Ayasofya’daki restorasyonları yapan mimardır. Mimari tarz: Barok etkileri taşıyan klasik Avrupa kilise mimarisi. Vatikan’a bağlı İstanbul Latin Katolik Başpiskoposluğu’nun merkezi olarak görev yapar. İstanbul’daki en büyük Katolik katedrallerinden biridir. Full name: Cathédrale du Saint-Esprit (Cathedral of the Holy Spirit) Affiliation: Roman Catholic Church, primarily serving the Latin Catholic community Year of construction: Built in 1846 Architect: Designed by Giuseppe Fossati, an Italian-Swiss architect who also led the restoration of Hagia Sophia Architectural style: European classical church architecture with strong Baroque influences During the Ottoman era, the construction of the cathedral was officially permitted by Sultan Abdülmecid. This reflects the religious tolerance extended to Catholics within the empire at the time. The cathedral quickly became the main place of worship for the Italian, French, and other Western Catholic communities living in Istanbul. Today, it serves as the seat of the Apostolic Vicariate of Istanbul, directly under the jurisdiction of the Vatican. It is also one of the largest Roman Catholic cathedrals in Istanbul, attracting visitors for both its spiritual significance and historical architecture.
