Habíamos finalizado nuestro viaje en moto realizando la Ruta Transpirenaica, e íbamos a pasar la noche en la ciudad de Girona. Salimos a dar una vuelta, y nos encontramos con esta bonita y monumental Basílica de San Félix o de Santa Feliu, situada en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Girona, con su acceso principal por la Plaza de Sant Feliu, al lado del Río Onyar. Está basílica acoge los oficios de la Parroquia Mayor de Sant Feliu del Obispado de Gerona, llamada así porque este era el templo principal de Gerona antes de la construcción de la catedral. Su construcción, en honor del mártir San Félix, se alargó desde el siglo XII hasta el XVII y conserva buena parte del edificio románico, completado más tarde con las naves y las cubiertas góticas y la fachada barroca. El atractivo principal está constituido por ocho extraordinarios sarcófagos romanos y paleocristianos de los siglos III y IV, encontrados al construirse la iglesia, junto con el sepulcro gótico de San Narciso. Y muy bonita y espectacular también, su actual Torre y Campanario gótico, situada a la izquierda de la portada principal, que sustituyó al antiguo románico y se construyó entre los siglos XIV y XVI. Puede divisarse este bonito campanario desde varios puntos de la ciudad. Muy recomendable visitar esta espectacular Basílica de Santa Feliu, así como visitar todo el casco antiguo histórico de esta bonita ciudad de Girona.
