BEWARE of getting a parking fine if you park in Howlands park and ride. We visited the gardens today and didn’t realise you can no longer park there. The parking ticket states our car was observed for 5 minutes. We later went into Durham using the park and ride but the fact that we had crossed the road into the Botanic gardens for about 50 minutes meant we were issued with £50 fine from Durham County Council .
