在1500萬年前左右，一顆來自外太空的隕石撞擊了現在德國南部的Ries，形成了一個巨大的隕石坑，在撞擊時產生高溫與壓力，地表上的岩石直接被熔化，飛濺到捷克與奧地利一代，被撞擊的岩石在空中冷卻後，形成一種深綠橄欖色的晶體，並帶有鐵的元素在其中，我們稱它摩爾達維石（Moldavite），因為莫氏硬度約6-7左右，很適合做成珠寶飾品。而在捷克境內發現最多的即是南部的Český Krumlov，在這小鎮內直接還有一個博物館展出相關的歷史與Moldavite，替這個捷克最美小鎮增添更多色彩。

Fun little museum! Very much liked the introductory video & the downstairs section of the museum. No need to buy a ticket ahead of time & be sure to check out their shop for a certified moldavite piece! Would recommend for geology nerds & NEATure lovers
