Najstarszą częścią jest normański keep z XI wieku – masywna, kamienna wieża o surowej formie, stojąca na wysokim kopcu i otoczona fosą. Jej grube mury, wąskie okna i prosty układ wnętrz są typowe dla wczesnośredniowiecznych budowli obronnych. Wokół rozciągają się fragmenty murów i baszt z różnych faz rozbudowy zamku. Najbardziej charakterystyczne są jednak XIX-wieczne zabudowania pałacowe, które Burges przekształcił w prawdziwy manifest neogotyku wiktoriańskiego.
