Rumbach Street Synagogue in Budapest
Über
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Budapest, the Rumbach Street Synagogue stands as a magnificent testament to history and culture. Built in 1872 by the renowned architect Otto Wagner, this Moorish-style gem with its colorful designs and striking octagonal shape beckons visitors from around the world. With a Google rating of 4.5, it is a revered attraction that perfectly blends historical significance with modern flair.
The synagogue has evolved into a dynamic cultural hub, hosting events, concerts, and performances while still honoring its ritualistic roots. Recently refurbished after years of neglect, the space now also serves as an extension of the Jewish Museum and Archive, complete with a small museum dedicated to Jewish culture and history.
Highly recommended guided tours enhance the experience, offering insightful glimpses into the building's rich past and vibrant present. Suitable for children, families can explore together while enjoying live music that beautifully complements the synagogue's enchanting ambiance. Sinagoga molto bella e caratteristica. Non è molto visitata, quindi si può osservare in tranquillità. Un piano è dedicato alla storia dell'ebraismo e della sinagoga stessa, un altro ad una mostra su un personaggio storico.

We visited this beautiful synagogue and were lucky to spend 20 minutes talking to A. Chris. He was charming and interesting and we learned a lot of the history of the Jews in Budapest. I would happily recommend a visit and, if a guide approaches you, make sure to listen.

Amazing synagogue. A guide inside sat down with us and spent 20 minutes explaining the history of the synagogue and Jews in Hungary and explained about the architecture of the building. We really appreciated his time. There is an interesting exhibition on a family on the top floor. The guide is called A.Kris
