I’ve never written a negative review before, but today’s experience at Seventy Seven really wasn't great. I popped in for the first time, I’m a Cork native, out on my own with no kids today, just looking for a quiet bite after some shopping across from HomeSense. The host at the door she was lovely and welcoming, which I appreciated. I ordered the soup, but when it arrived, it was so thick it had the texture of yoghurt. I politely questioned it, even apologised, thinking maybe I was missing something. The waiter he responded with, “That’s just the way soup is, some are lumpy, some have that texture.” To be honest, I nearly questioned my sanity in that moment. I’ve worked in hospitality, and I would never dream of responding to a customer that way, no check-in, no curiosity, no basic acknowledgement. Not sure if it’s a sign of the times that someone can speak so dismissively and move on, but it really struck me. I left and got a fresh soup and bread from the English Market no confusion there.

Just stopped by for a couple of pints one afternoon, while on holiday. Found the staff to be attentive, and the facilities to be excellent. Tempted to come back for food one evening while here.
