This spot is tucked to the side of one of the arcades in Cardiff and I couldn’t resist popping in. I’m a bit of a donut freak and make a point of visiting a donut shop in nearly every town I go to, so I like to think I know my stuff. One thing I really can’t stand is a greasy donut, and unfortunately the ones here had noticeably greasy bottoms. That’s a letdown for me. I always judge a donut place by its most basic offering, usually the Homer style, and to be fair, this one was soft, fluffy and had great flavour in the icing, which a lot of places get wrong. But the greasiness was still there. Flavour wise, the others we tried were really tasty, so it wasn’t all bad. It was just frustrating that things got a bit messy and there were no napkins on any of the tables, which made the experience less enjoyable. On a positive note, the guy on the till gave brilliant customer service. Really friendly and upbeat, and on a gloomy rainy day he honestly brightened things up. So thank you for that. It’s not my favourite donut place. Somehow, Whocult still holds that crown for me, even with the awful customer service in their Cardiff branch.
