The "Gundel" restaurant has been holding the title of the establishment with the best cakes in the capital for over a hundred years. Its prime location near the Széchenyi Thermal Bath in the city park only strengthens the restaurant's position, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of people annually.

Gundel is named after the ace of pastry art and "master over baking," Károly Gundel, whose traditions and principles are still faithfully adhered to in the kitchen. The restaurant's interior features a lot of marble and redwood, a combination that strangely enhances the appetite of its visitors. The menu is based on a variety of sweets, but also includes soups, cold appetizers, and even vegetarian dishes.

Δοκιμάσαμε το πιάτο με τα τρία τοπικά γλυκά και ένα κέικ σοκολάτας. Όλα ήταν εξαιρετικά όπως, αναμενόμενα για τέτοιο κατάστημα, και η εξυπηρέτηση. Οι τιμές με δεδομένο ότι μιλάμε για ένα κατάστημα αυτού του βεληνεκούς δεν ήταν χαμηλές φυσικά αλλά ούτε και πολύ υψηλές. Τουλάχιστον όσον αφορά τα γλυκά, μια και δεν φάγαμε φαγητό, θα το συνιστούσα ανεπιφύλακτα και σίγουρα θα ξαναπήγαινα.

Πολύ όμορφο μέρος δίπλα από τον ζωολογικό κήπο. Πρέπει να κάτσετε μέσα για να βιώσετε την ατμόσφαιρα του χώρου. Πολυτέλεια βγαλμένη από άλλη εποχή, μουσική με βιολί και πιάνο που σε ταξιδεύει. Το φαγητό και τα γλυκά εξαιρετικά. Τοπικά εδέσματα σε ομολογουμενως τσιμπημένες τιμές. Αξίζει όμως να το επισκεφτεί κανείς. Η αυλή είναι μια άλλη υπόθεση. Σκόνη στα παράθυρα, τα πιάτα που προφανώς είχαν τοποθετηθεί στο τραπέζι ώρα πριν είχαν σκονη και φύλλα από τα δέντρα, μουσική δεν άκουγες καθόλου. Αν πάτε, επιλέξετε να καθίσετε μέσα για να απολαύσετε την εμπειρία στο έπακρον. Το προσωπικό πολύ καλό και ευγενικό.
