I had an incredible, challenging, intense, joyful, funny and life-changing 5 days in Brighton on Jill Edwards' one week comedy workshop. Jill seriously knows her stuff and is an engaging teacher who is passionate about comedy and cares about her students past and present. She managed to take us all from complete beginners to writing and performing jokes in front of an audience. I left the course feeling confident, well equipped and excited to start on my comedy journey.

I’ve always been interested in stand-up, but thought of myself as too shy and nervous to ever actually try it. Like a lot of people, I was terrified of public speaking and balked at the idea of standing on a stage in front of strangers. Jill’s course covers so much, from structuring jokes and sharpening material to dealing with hecklers and actually performing on stage. It’s all broken down step by step, so I never felt overwhelmed, and I was amazed at how much progress I made in such a short space of time. The nerves are still there, but by the end of the course, I was performing a little set in front of a room full of people, something I’d never imagined I’d have the confidence to do. Jill is supportive but also honest, always giving useful and constructive feedback, and always sharing tips from her huge knowledge of the comedy world. Absolutely recommend her courses to anybody considering stand up!
