Oberhalb des Bahnhofs wurde die Grosse Schanze als Festungsbau im 17. Jahrhundert angelegt. Vor dem Hauptgebäude der Universität enstand 1967 auf dem Dach des Parkhauses der europaweit erste öffentliche Dachgarten - im Sommer ziemlich 'überlaufen'. Spielplätze, Sitzbänke Trinkbrunnen und ein Restaurant befinden sich in umittelbarer Nähe. Und der Hauptbahnhof ist direkt mit einer Liftanlage erreichbar. Plus einer randioses Aussicht über die Stadt Bern und auf die Berge.
