About

The Bimhuis concert hall opened in early October 1974 in Amsterdam, but it was not destined to exist for long in its original location. However, 21 years later, with the active participation of Dutch jazz musicians, a new, more deserving location for the jazz club was found on the shore of the IJ canal, where it remains to this day.

In the early 1970s, Amsterdam was a hub for the development of experimental jazz, so young performers urgently needed a venue for both performances and meetings - Bimhuis became that place. Moving to a new location, the building retained its previous atmosphere, but some additions did occur, particularly concerning technical equipment.

The move significantly increased the jazz club's popularity. More than 300 events are held here annually, including concerts, sessions, seminars, and much more!
