Man nähert sich der Frankenwarte und merkt rasch: Hier steht kein Turm, der Eindruck schinden will – er weiß, dass Aussicht manchmal genügt. Seit 1894 ragt er über den Bäumen, nicht überheblich, sondern mit der stillen Haltung eines Bauwerks, das den Überblick lieber teilt, als damit zu prahlen. Die 173 Stufen wirken weniger wie Anstrengung als wie eine höfliche Prüfung: „Willst du’s wirklich sehen?“ Oben angekommen, schweigt die Stadt – und man selbst irgendwie auch.
