Delicious Ghanaian food served by a charming, upbeat, and very helpful wait staff delivered a great birthday celebration. The inexpensive wine options and the complimentary celebratory prosecco certainly helped as well. We loved every dish, including the seafood jolloff, oxtail, crab rice, pork belly skewer and eggplant dip. We recommend them all. Elmina is a top-notch, fun, and interesting restaurant. Give it a try.

I went to Elmina for a solo birthday dinner and treated myself to the tasting menu — and it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in DC. The service was impeccable (from the host, to the excellent server, to the kitchen), the team made me feel celebrated and completely at ease dining solo. The food was extraordinary, each course thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The Jollof duck pot was my absolute favorite dish — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The ambiance was relaxing and elegant, making it the perfect spot to unwind and savor every bite. Five stars all around, and I will definitely go back.

The food was beyond delicious—fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. I had the grilled branzino and a mezze plate, and every bite was beautifully balanced and thoughtfully prepared. The cocktails were just as impressive (highly recommend the one with citrus and rosemary!), and the service was friendly and attentive without being too much. Perfect for a date night or dinner with friends—I'll definitely be coming back!
