W okresie międzywojennym plac ten nosił nazwę Orzeszkowej a w okresie radzieckim Iwana Czerniachowskiego. Obecnie w centralnym punkcie placu stoi monument upamiętniający Vincasa Kudirkę autora muzyki i tekstu litewskiego hymnu narodowego. Trochę za mało tu zieleni. Mam wrażenie, że Litwini także popełniają błędy te same błędy co Polacy i betonują swoje miasta.
