About

During the war, this bleak building served as an air defense tower, but now it houses the "House of the Sea" museum. Today, inside the tower, there is a large number of aquariums and terrariums, as well as a real tropical corner! Among the museum's inhabitants, you can meet turtles, jellyfish, stingrays, sharks, and also the more harmless catfish and pikes! In addition to the well-known, there are leaf-fish and starfish living here. In the terrarium, you can see not only huge snakes and crocodiles but also lizards and spiders. Moreover, wild plants grow on the museum's territory, little animals crawl, and beautiful birds fly.

In the "House of the Sea," a tropical climate is artificially recreated. Unfamiliar aromas and humid air will give you the feeling of real tropics. The culmination of the tropical marine journey could be an observation deck with cityscapes!

Lots of positives. I would actually probably give it a 4.8 star review if I could, but that would probably be more due to my tiredness than the actual aquarium. I liked that there were discounts for children and seniors, and the prices, although still relatively expensive, were probably quite good for Vienna. I liked the beautiful views of the city that it afforded due to its high structure. I appreciated the few open air sites, which provided some relief from the humid and sometimes stinky animal environment. There were some wow moments like the giant sea turtle other huge fish up top. And our girls loved getting to pet the coy fish.

Hands down kids favourite! Mummy stroked fish and Daddy chatted with a very knowledgeable bilingual historian on the 10th floor about all things war. Certified all round winner 🏅
