About

Sant Joan De L'Hospital, the oldest Catholic church in Valencia, stands as a serene sanctuary amidst the bustling streets of the old town. This Valencian Gothic treasure offers a glimpse into both romanesque and gothic architectural styles, beautifully preserved within its simple yet stunning 13th-century design. Set back from the street, the church is hidden within a tranquil courtyard adorned with captivating statues and hand-painted tiles depicting the stations of the cross. Visitors often find solace here, enveloped by the peaceful and solemn atmosphere, where moments like a lady quietly reading the Bible in the chapel of the Virgin Mary bring a touching sense of reverence. The church is wheelchair accessible and a welcoming place for children to explore. Free to enter and rich in history, it's also a charming spot to witness events such as beautiful wedding ceremonies, adding to its timeless allure. With an outstanding Google rating of 4.7, Sant Joan De L'Hospital promises a memorable experience without the bustle of large tourist crowds.

Very nice church with heartwarming priests, confession is always available and almost always available in English! On Saturday there are English masses in the chapel as well. And extra credit to Fr. Jesus Gil, he is a lifesaver. I don't know what I would have done without him and this church, because, as someone with poor b1 spanish, I don't know where else could I confess and find such a strong spiritual help as there
