Charcuterie and Wine - A Vision in Noir It was a chilly Edinburgh evening and I was lost, drifting, searching for meaning, or maybe just someone, or something, that wouldn’t lie to me. The light spilling out onto the street from A Wee Taste called to me. Soft. Warm. Pink. But this was no Pony Club. The sign didn’t shout, it didn’t need to. It whispered. Just enough to make me curious enough to push the door open and step inside. There she stood. Karly. The kind of proprietor who knows more than she says, and sees so much more than she reveals. Her smile could sway any food cynic, and her wine list could make a priest reconsider his vows. She poured me something red, brooding, with just the right kind of regret at the finish. I didn’t ask where it came from, some things are better left mysterious. I took the bottle from her hand and for just a second, she knew. The place is small, intimate, like a secret you’re glad you stumbled upon. The cheese board arrived like a dossier of edible intelligence. Every wedge, every sliver, a character with a backstory. Manchego with a past. Brie with unresolved tension. Blue cheese with something to prove. But all pleading innocence. And the sausage rolls? Dangerous. The kind of dangerous you recognise later, maybe that night, if you survive it. Flaky on the outside, dark and rich on the inside. Like a femme fatale in a pastry dress. The charcuterie lined up before me like suspects; cured, spiced, perfectly sliced. They said nothing, but they didn’t have to. I read them like a bad alibi. Karly sauntered through the room like a conductor, orchestrating an evening where nobody wanted to leave. And I didn’t. Not until the last drop was gone, and the last fragment of guilt melted on my tongue. A Wee Taste isn’t just a wine bar. It’s a story you walk into, and if you’re lucky, you walk out of…changed.

This is an amazing wee wine bar in Edinburgh. They serve delicious curated meats and cheese boards plus tapas. Their wine menu is fantastic- there's a wine for everyone. A definite must in the city-5 stars!
