Held at Hope Street Theatre in Liverpool, when we first bought the tickets to “On The Banks Of The Royal Blue Mersey”, we actually didn’t know what to expect. How would a comedy history of Everton Football Club turn out to be? Well, alot of self-deprecating and self-bashing scenes about the club – which turned out to be pretty funny and humorous. There were many scenes that were shown throughout the comedy but these were some of our favorite scenes… 1. The show started with 2 archaeologists digging into the old site of Goodison Park and finally finding the trophy room – that turned out to be empty! This was a dig into Everton’s accolades where they have not won any cups since 1995’s FA Cup and Community Shield. Yup, 30 years without any wins for the die-hard fans now... My first time at Hope Street Theatre, we found the whole experience fantastic. We watched, Conspiracies RE-DIRECTED last week and it was brilliant. Highly recommended. The script, story and talented cast kept me engaged from start to finish! We was apprehensive at first, not sure what to expect, but, within the first 10 minutes everything was made clear and we were hooked! Easily exceeded my expectations! The big question is, will we get to see Conspiracies RE-DIRECTED again, or any future projects? Overall, we really liked the Theatre bar area vibe and the warmness of the ushers were sweet & helpful! We will be back!

Just saw a production at Hope Street Theatre called ‘Conspiracies Redirected’ written by Lewis Faulkner and directed by Leo Moore, a satirical alternate world where popular theories such as the moon landing was a government conspiracy. I really loved the dark humour of the script as it lent a very clever satirical depiction of how governments and the 1% profit off of fraud and ignorance for their own self interests and limit the potential for progress to create a more perfect world. The play also had a lot of heart put into it as well as we follow the journey one of the government workers struggling with an internal battle as the magnitude of his career path starts to weigh on his conscience. The actors really sold the over-the-top nature of the script and the added projector visuals set the tone very nicely and made the play feel bigger than the sum of its parts. ‘Conspiracies Redirected’ has the potential to go much further as a production and I look forward to seeing where Lewis and Leo of Moore Productions take it as well as their other works. Hope Street theatre offers great opportunities to up-and-coming creatives looking to put on early runs of their works and is definitely a space worth checking out to see new works.
