We didn't expect big things from this place, we wanted to get out of town for a couple of hours and took a long walk here. But we were blown away! The scenery at this hidden garden is amazing! A nice getaway with very few people.

Villa Doria Pamphilj si trova nel Quartiere XII (Gianicolense) a Roma. STORIA: La villa fu commissionata nel XVII secolo dalla nobile famiglia Pamphilj come residenza di campagna immersa nel verde, con varie destinazioni quali l’uso agricolo, la caccia, nel contesto era inserito il bel lago naturale, abbellito nella parte alta con un grazioso gioco d’acqua e cascatelle artificiali. Successivamente venne realizzato il bellissimo edificio Casino del Bel Respiro, progettato da Alessandro Algardi, un capolavoro del barocco romano, circondato da un elegante giardino all’italiana di rara bellezza. Nel tempo vennero aggiunti ulteriori suggestivi elementi ornamentali, molti con impronta classicheggiante: Un anfiteatro a forma di esedra con 12 bassorilievi marmorei Il Ninfeo del Satiro, decorato con sirene e fauni L’Arco dei Quattro Venti, punto panoramico e simbolico Fontane storiche come quella di Venere, del Giglio, della Cascata e del Cupido, molte altre sono andate perdute Nel 1612 fu completato l’Acquedotto Traiano-Paolo, voluto da Papa Paolo V, che portava acqua dal Lago di Bracciano fino al Gianicolo e Trastevere Particolare anche il più recente degli edifici, la Cappella Doria Pamphili, realizzata nel 1902 realizzata nel suggestivo stile neogotico. NATURA: FLORA e FAUNA: Villa Pamphilj è un vero e proprio orto botanico a cielo aperto. Tra i viali alberati si trovano: • Cipressi, pini, allori, querce, palme, ippocastani, pioppi • Arbusti come mirto, lentisco, corbezzolo • Piante ornamentali: rose, camelie, magnolie Vicino a diverse piante, vi sono a corredo delle schede illustrative (non tutte purtroppo leggibili). La fauna è altrettanto ricca: scoiattoli, ricci, conigli, e varietà di uccelli (es:merli), ma anche insetti come api e farfalle. COSA SI PUÒ FARE NEL PARCO Passeggiate rilassanti o jogging, picnic all’ombra degli alberi secolari, attività sportive all’aperto, giochi per bambini e aree fitness, ristoro presso il Casale dei Cedrati o il bistrot ViVi – Villa Pamphilj ROMA NEI DETTAGLI: Roma non è fatta solo di grandi monumenti, ma anche di luoghi da vivere in relax, come questa grande villa. Il parco è attrezzato per fare sport,ma anche per un po' di relax. Grande e alberato l, ottima location per: passeggiata, festa, jogging, sport, socializzazione per bambini e non. Bellissimo il laghetto con cascatelle e gli animali da vedere. Consigliatissimo!
