Mooie historische monumenten, de moeite waard.

Palatyn od miejsce od którego powinno się zacząć "przygodę" z Rzymem wszak to tutaj podobno Rzym "się zaczął". Zgodnie z popularną legendą o Romulusie i Remusie to właśnie na wzgórzu Palatyn w 753 roku p.n.e. miał zostać założony Rzym. To tutaj wilczyca karmiła Remusa i Romulusa mlekiem z własnych piersi. Początkowo na Palatynie wznoszono skromne domostwa, jednak przez kolejne wieki na wzgórzu powstawały świątynie poświęcone najważniejszym bóstwom. W czasach późnej republiki, około II wieku p.n.e., wzgórze zaczęli zamieszkiwać najbogatsi Rzymianie: senatorowie, dowódcy, patrycjusze. Wśród nich byli m.in.: Cyceron, Marek Antoniusz czy rodzina Juliusza Cezara. Obszar ten uważany był za najpiękniejszą część miasta. Do naszych czasów zachowały się ruiny kilku rezydencji oraz pomieszczeń, wewnątrz których zobaczymy oryginalne zdobienia. Na fundamentach Pałacu Tyberiusza założono rozległe ogrody (z pierwszym na świecie publicznym ogrodem botanicznym), z których część zachowała się do dziś.
