About

Nestled in the heart of Poznań's historic Ostrów Tumski, the Muzeum Archidiecezjalne w Poznaniu is a treasure trove of sacred art and local history. With an impressive average rating of 4.6 on Google, this museum offers visitors a unique glimpse into the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region.

The museum's extensive collection includes paintings and artifacts dating back to the 13th century, such as the revered Sword of St. Peter and the Jagiełło Monstrance. Admire works by renowned artist Matejko and explore the richly adorned treasury filled with sacred objects. The current exhibition, running until September 15, 2024, honors Archbishop Antoni Baraniak on the 120th anniversary of his birth.

With highlights such as beautifully illuminated paintings and a friendly staff, a visit here is both enlightening and enjoyable. Plan for about 1.5 hours to fully appreciate the exhibits. An interesting tidbit: it was the site of the Lubrański Academy, the first modern-type school in Poland, founded by Bishop Jan Lubrański.

Duża ekspozycja, jest co oglądać na 3 piętrach wystawy. Mnóstwo pięknych robiących wrażenie eksponatów - choćby wspaniałe monstrancje. Jest też wiele cennych pamiątek - np. miecz Św. Piotra. Jeśli ktoś ceni sztukę sakralną - to koniecznie musi tu przyjść.

Just seeing the sword of St. Peter and the story behind it is notable and worth it. But there are many other interesting artifacts such as the monstrance collection.
