A pleasant evening spot right by York Minster. Diverse choice of food and unusual wines that seem to be specially chosen. The deli board has a great array of item though it is fixed. The price point overall felt a little high overall relative to other offerings around the city.

This place is an oasis in the desert that York has become..York is an amazing city for visitors and tourists with many interesting pubs and restaurants to feed you. However, for those familiar with the City but looking for a little peace, conversation and great food, you do have to build your little black book. 22 Yards will absolutely be going in mine. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere is calm and composed a welcome relief from the outside world. The wine list is interesting and reasonably priced. We had a lovely cava to celebrate a Bank Holiday. But it's the food that really grabbed us. Torched mackerel was lovely with the apple and hollandaise. Beef Tartare was dreamy with perfectly dressed beef and a horseradish sauce. I thought that was the pinnacle but then the pearl barley and leeks arrived and they were simply delicious. Service was subtle, warm and attentive. 22 Yards is a great wine bar with food and I'll definitely be back here again soon - especially if they rotate the menu regularly. Loving what you're doing 22 Yards! Keep it up!
