You have to be good at maths to go into the restaurant, since it charges A) plain noodle at £9 with 2/3 mini tomatoes + 5/6 piece veg + 2/3 Chinese-way-made olives (90% Europe people won’t touch these) B) a small portion cooked meat dish at £8/£9. Once do the maths, almost everyone have to spend (A)£9+(B)£8=£17 to have a basic noodle dish per person in Chinatown. Noticed our table wasn’t the only table puzzled on how to order food and couldn’t believe £9 is only buy a bowl of plain noodle. Unfortunately, both noodle soup and meat dishes are made fairly salty. We’ve been to Su Zhou in China. Food in Su Zhou is not salty. Services are great. Restaurant decorations are brilliant and very clean. Hygiene standard is high. Service charge rate is currently set up as 12.5%, although you can challenge not to pay per UK legal terms. If you have gluten-free diet requirements, the restaurant is NOT your wise choice. The restaurant food does NOT firmly follow GF standards. Simply don’t try.

We had a great family meal here. Staff friendly and professional and food very good. Would highly recommend and visit again.

I was lucky enough to visit the canal town of Suzhou located close to Shanghai in China. I missed eating at Song He Lou while I was there. Happily, Song Le Hou have just opened their first overseas restaurant in London I love noodles, so this was right up my street. I chose the red soup base and added braised pork belly. The noodles were springy and delicious. The soup base was smooth and clarified. It came with 3 sides - green veg, mini tomatoes and sweet preserved fruit. To my Malaysian palate, they didn’t really complement the noodles and soup. The braised pork was lovely and soft if lacking in definite character The service was attentive and friendly but they slightly dropped the ball with my dessert order. A wrong dish arrived before my soya pudding was served. Again, it didn’t match my Malaysian palate but can’t really blame them I will return to try other things on the menu which sound interesting
