Good food, good service and a good experience. Picked a Friday lunchtime to go and can recommend Il Blandfords situated in a quiet back street just around the corner from The Blandford Hotel. The weather was deemed to be too hot to sit outside. Inside was cool and decorated with some interesting pictures/paintings. Half a dozen simple chairs/tables and an attentive waiter - all to ourselves. Started with a refreshing lemon mocktail and generously sauced bruschetta. The gnocchi main course was equally delicious and was followed with afforgado di cafe (ice cream & espresso). Based on the relaxed atmosphere (a 2 hour lunch!) and ‘home’ Italian cooking, I can highly recommend a visit.

Il Blandfords is more than a café but not quite a restaurant; a posh cafe if you like. It is quite cramped with small bench seats and chairs closely spaced, so not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs in my opinion. The table tops are unusual in being metal clad, which has the effect of not gripping your plate of food, so you chase it around the table; they really should use suitable table mats (update at Dec 2019 - metal tops have gone, so they may have taken heed). However, it oozes character with interesting artwork on the walls. The food is really nice and well presented, but a tad pricy.
