Visited Llandudno Swimming Centre for a lane swim Thurs 14th Aug. On reaching poolside I noticed the lanes were full so as the main pool was not busy I entered that prepared to wait until space in the slow lane become free. The water quality & temp was perfect as was the entire facility. All was perfect until groups of youths arrived & began ball play. That because of the size of the main pool was manageble as the players made allowances for me swimming past them so no risk occurred & we all enjoyed our various activities. The risk to me happened when youths began dive bombing me [ a 75 yr old ] & colliding with me to I suppose force me out of the deep end where their dive bombing was happening. I did expect staff watching this colliding with myself to intervene so O could swim in safety. None did. After being hit for the second time I going under in the deep end I went to the side to recover & point out the youths poor pool etiquette to the duty lifeguard. No apology was offered & I was told that it was safer for me at my age to swim in the slowest lane. I explained that it wasn't safe to allow youths to run then dive bomb swimmers in the water. I was told again to move into the slow lane. I pointed out that the large pool was a swimming session, yet because of jumping in was allowed then no one COULD swim in safety. Fearful for my safety I went to join 5 other swimmers in the slow lane who as I did tried our best to share swimming space in the slow lane. I frequent many public swimming pools & have yet to see 'jumping- in' allowed when a pool is very busy indeed & collisions are occuring when swimmers are hit by youths jumping- in far too close to swimmers using the deep end of the pool. The hazard allowed by the lifeguards was unacceptable given the high number of pool users. Those using ball play were causing no risk to other swimmers. Those jumping- in, hands around knees were careless as to where they landed, or who they landed on. I was very surprised to see & hear that this type of thoughtless behaviour in a packed pool was condoned by staff & that no attempt at an apology for the collisions were made. I suggest this lax supervision is reviewed to Ensure that older female swimmers are not intimidated. And more than 4 lanes are operating when its seen that some pool users wish to swim lengths not play ball nor jump into the deep end. The pool is a wonderful facility indeed, my expectation that Id be safe from risk when swimming, was not met & my complaint about obvious risk, was not taken seriously despite my obvious age & slow gait.

I saw Alex this week for a guide of the gym in Llandudno. I explained what my hopes and expectations were.... She was polite, friendly and extremely knowledgeable - a credit to Conwy Ffit. Thank you xx
