Le lieu est tout simplement magnifique ! L'ambiance cosy et le personnel sympathique. Côté cuisine, le steak pie est tout simplement magnifique et les frites tout simplement les meilleures de la ville !!! Le burger par contre lui était assez simple.

Great restaurant, awful waiter, did their best to recover. Was so excited to spend our last night in Edinburgh at a special restaurant… then came the incredibly awful and rude waiter. Listen, the food was very good as we shared the Sunday roast special, scallops, beet salad and my daughter had a burger. Important to note that we all enjoyed the taste and the presentation. But I can only comment on those items because our waiter who boasted about his 6 years of experience forgot to deliver our drinks and the gazpacho came after our main course was already served. He did offer to give us our drinks for free but at that point we were almost done with our meals and gracefully declined. When we declined his surliness which had escalated throughout, reached a peak. He literally mocked us for not accepting the free drinks, sorry but we like our drinks before the food and did not want to be wasteful with a pour that we were not going to drink. This was on top of him mocking us earlier when we mistakenly referred to a starter course as an appetizer, for which we apologized. We were nice and even joked with him at the start of the meal but he just took that as a cue that he could take advantage of us. While he asked the table next to us if they needed anything no less than five times, he never asked us once. It was hard to even stop him to remind him about the drinks to which he responded “what drinks?” Which he then recalled after my reminder. In the end the management reduced our bill and made every effort to be kind and accommodating but it says a lot about a team that supports that kind of behavior over six years, in the end their comment was “he had a bad night”. Looks like from some of the other reviews, our surly, forgetful waiter has had quite a few of those. We loved the fun of our Scottish dining experiences and appreciate some good sarcasm but that is not what this was. Hope this restaurant can maintain a staff that lives up to its great reputation.

10/10 service and food/drinks knowledge from Jim. We went there to celebrate our engagement in the company of my parents in law and we got a whiskey flight, some pies, salads, etc. Delicious food and drinks, big thanks to Jim and rest of the staff for an outstanding night!
