Although I personally never went there my unit, B Battery 1st Battalion 22d Artillery from nearby Pinder Barracks used to train there 1969-1970.. even back then the guys said it was a great place to be.

Natur pur! Eine Insel der Ruhe und sehr geschichtsträchtig. Von den militärischen Anfängen mit dem Wallenstein Lager und der Zeit als Truppenübungsplatz der US-Army und der Bundeswehr ist nichts mehr zu sehen. Anstelle von Maschinen und Menschen überwiegt hier die Natur. Jeder von uns muss dafür sorgen, dass es auch so bleibt.
