2025 Churches, Cathedrals

Chiesa Del Gesù Nuovo, a remarkable architectural marvel in Naples, epitomizes Baroque splendor with its awe-inspiring dome and intricate sculptural details. Originally a 15th-century palace, it was transformed into a stately church by the Jesuits in the 16th century. The façade captivates visitors with its distinctive pyramid-like stones, offering a hint of the lavish elegance inside. Rich tapestries and intricately crafted tombs enhance the grandeur of this sacred space, where history intertwines with modern tales, such as that of Dr. Giuseppe Moscati, who is commemorated within. Free to enter, this cathedral not only draws admiring looks for its stunning design but also invites reflection through its captivating choir performances and stories of miracles. Despite having endured the ravages of time, including an undetonated World War II bomb lodged within, Chiesa Del Gesù Nuovo remains a must-see treasure in the heart of Naples, consistently earning high praise from those who venture through its historic doors.
